The indexed has always the best noise. In this case, it asks whether you would rather prefer to quietly forecast and embrace trends, or loudly and brashly declare your point of view.

And there are those others, the evangelists, the ones that through judicious exposure change the landscape of ideas and facilitate the acceptance of new concepts.

This would look in a business card, somehow.

Well they asked the plants if they had cognition and memory, and the plants said “no”. Then they asked if they meant they didn’t have either or just didn’t have both, and the plant said “both of what?” So there ya go.

lolcats, communities and emergence

Anil says that lolcats has grammar, and in doing so points to the most important characteristic of those anthropomorphized felines:

There’s a consistent visual vocabulary to the construct, as well. If it ain’t Impact or Arial Black or some other nondescript sans serif font, it ain’t lolcat. White letters with a black outline are a must. But codifying a design guide for lolcats is well beyond my abilities.

The lolcats have generated a general article in Slate, a wikipedia article, and of course, the all winning and amazing ICanHasCheezburger.

Why the importance of Yet Another Blog Meme?

It matters because it is one significant example of rules emergence through social interaction. That the internets are the best medium for this, well, it is for now. But the explosion of the image macros, the consensus on rules and appropriateness and the widespread use of freely available content makes this both an indicator of community, early technology adopters and curious innovators. The language that is defined through these image macros and the referent cultural assumptions, shortcuts into our moods and ideas (Jesuschrist is a lion! Get in the car! comes to mind) creates another redefinition of reality, without already modifying it too much: it is a nice exercise in socialization, without the encumbering responsibility of other more activist ideas.

Our real, immediate benefit comes in the form of new rules, the community identification and the discovery process that we undertake when first confronted with these pictures. We like the lolcats because they are humorous, yes, and as Kathy Sierra used to say, our brain is geared towards recognizing that which causes us to think – thus, this meme appeals to us because it depends on some fluid set of rules, which both defines the group as keeps it together.

This is perfect advice on how to be a Better Boyfriend, for example,

if you REALLY, REALLY LOVE a girl, you buy her a piece of jewelry

although I don’t know that would translate in this age of neo-non-feminism. Perhaps it is good again to subject women to gifts and gallant gestures? Because this article would seem to imply that you can buy their love with jewelry, you know.
I do have one issue with the paragraph, though.

Google how to make jewelry on line.

Hey, jessie, google and online are redundant.
I do so appreciate the fact that giving a brooch is seen as appropriate, even though it is outmoded. Also, I love how the author used the term broach, which also means “A tapered, serrated tool used to shape or enlarge a hole.” Freudian words fail me.
The quality of the site really showcases the talent of the artist and writer. I suggest you go take a look, and, I don’t know, perhaps enlighten yourself.

Damn, they found my favorite way of disposing of the remina o my victims:

It involves freezing the coffin and body to -18C before lowering them into liquid nitrogen at -196C, which leaves them extremely brittle.

And then shaking them until they become powder, at which point you can sell the resulting powder at Whole Foods, under “Protein” for your plants.
No more enemies, and a beautiful garden. What else do you want?
