| | I have been watching with a little perverse glee all the issue about evanescence being a Christian rock group, which of course ought to bring goosebumps to all self-respecting anty-system free-thinker rockers like, well,me. But the thing is,I always suspected that from them, specially in that their first big hit,BMTL,sounded awfully [...] I had forgotten to acknowledge the amazing CD that Prentiss sent me for Christmas (or New Year). It is amazing, full of music that not often makes it to the news, much less to the Clearradio that we have here. It is a mix of contemporary Brazilian music, some of those recreating the rhythms and presenting them with a new sound, making them danceable and tranceable. An amazing experiment in hip swiveling and gyrations on the floor. And me,I was trying to repay the favor, with music to enjoy and discover;I think I might have found it,but the CDmix for Prentiss it is still a little in the future;come on,I haven’t found still all the music I need to put there. One regret, though,is that no matter how I try am not going to be able to put some Colombian black music from the Pacific Coast, the department of Chocó:these chants, that mean so much socially and historically, are for all purposes lost in some library in Colombia, with no way to trace them, and worse,no way to ask for a copy. Oh,I think I may ask some librarian, but I am not holding my breath. Prentiss, get ready for some Colombian rock. They have their own company, they are the famous couple behind Movable Type, and to top it all, they got a song made to them by the famous Pet Rock Star! shy and accomplished Mena finally acknowledges and divulges it,while the rest of us mortals only gape in astounded [...] It was sometime ago that I saw an open invitation to write anything, just a short story, and being irresponsible and completely clueless I did so. You can find the stories at Sudden Fiction, and mine,They Got it All Wrong,as their only SF. Which now turns into SM:I know that I had [...] I love the idea of t-shirts. Useless, ephemeral, low value and mass-produced,they exemplify the virtues of the American modern consumption,as well as reducing freedom of expression to a sound-bite,a flashy image. Thus,it is with great emotion that I link to Librarian Tees, because it is time that somebody recognizes that librarians [...] Yes,I admit it,I have spent countless minutes playing with the Color Picker app from Pixy, that before you make any assumtions, seems to be a rown man iwth a huge beard. Definitely not a pixie. And man does the application is elegant! You can find intuitive design, ease of use,and a definite [...] NaNoWriMo is coming closer, with the longer nights and pumpkin pies. I am dreaming of having my novel published internationally,to the acclaim of many and the delight of the masses. Oh,and chics dig it,as the monkey would say.
