I had forgotten to acknowledge the amazing CD that Prentiss sent me for Christmas (or New Year). It is amazing,full of music that not often makes it to the news,much less to the Clearradio that we have here. It is a mix of contemporary Brazilian music,some of those recreating the rhythms and presenting them with a new sound,making them danceable and tranceable. An amazing experiment in hip swiveling and gyrations on the floor. One regret,though,is that no matter how I try am not going to be able to put some Colombian black music from the Pacific Coast,the department of Chocó:these chants,that mean so much socially and historically,are for all purposes lost in some library in Colombia,with no way to trace them,and worse,no way to ask for a copy.
